Default Squeaky Door Check ?? Suggestions?

Hello friends, first post!!

I really liked the 1st Gen RX, so much so I think I actually prefer it over the newer models (honestly they seem better built than the newer ones where the dashboards get all cracked up, ick..)

I believe the door checks are a bit squeaky. I could be wrong, perhaps the noise is coming from elsewhere.

I don't particularly want to rebuild or replace the door checks as they seem to work okay (good enough for my liking, at the moment), but would like suggestions on getting rid of the noise.

At what point should I try lubricating? What should I use? I was thinking graphite may be good, or I have some bike chain lube that I used for the radio antenna....

I can try putting my ear to it to see exactly where the sound is coming from, but I'm not sure. Perhaps the pin in the door, or maybe it's inside the door behind the door panel.

Thanks!

I figured at least 10 people would jump on this when it popped up, but I'll be happy to give my two cents. I assume you are talking about the slide bar on the door check mechanism. I would clean it well, then apply white lithium grease for a lubricant.

Try vaseline or some silicon spray. Both will lubricate and also prevent rusting.

Squeaking or creaking/groaning?

This stuff works great for door checks, clean whatever build up is on there first.

Thank you all for the tips. I was playing with the doors the other day and I can't even really get them to make noise now. For the moment, I just shot some chain lube into each hinge and each door check. Everything is quiet.

If noises return or get worse, I will use something better like a silicone spray.

The door checks seem to be in fairly good shape, and not worn out, at least for now, so I don't need to worry about messing with that.

Thanks again

Never worry about this. Your opinion is as important.
