Default Tires

When I bought my 2001 RX300 it had Michelin Radial LT tires. These are stock size and I plan on staying stock. I need to replace all 4 tires, I could do 2 at a time but even the good ones are so close to the wear bars that I will have to replace them with in 3 or 4 months. I like the Michelins but it would cost between $1000 and $1200 for all 4. What other tires have people been happy with? My car is 2 wheel drive and a family car so I am not going off road or anything.

I am currently using Douglas All season tires which I got from Walmart in Mar 2018, in the same size (P225 70 R16)..
It was a very good price, and definitely less street noise than what was installed when I acquired the vehicle (Goodyear Tripletread Assurance).
I find that they have stood well to road surface issues, and have good grip on wet or snowed roads.

Why not go to Costco? No way its going to cost over $1,000 for 4 Michelin.

$1200!!!! Good God that's high! I got 4 Michelin Premier LTX's last year for a grand total of $682, tax and lifetime rotation included, at my local Sam's Club. I've long concluded that buying cheaper tires is like buying cheaper shoes...they never seem to work out. I swear by Michelins.

I'm beginning to think I need to rejoin Costco.

I looked on Tirerack before and then checked the cost of having tires mounted and balanced and the disposal of the old tires at that point I wasn't really saving anything.

This is maybe not the right place for this but has anyone tried any of the leather restoring products out there? I keep seeing adds for products that you rub on and it is supposed to take away any cracks etc. I would love to get my seats to look newer but it sounds to good to be true.

I thought I started a separate thread with this and did not mean add it here.

I have Firestone Destination LE's and like them a lot. They came with the vehicle, but I see no need to change ... Ride is decent, road noise is low, handling is fine. Price should be less than $125 ea

IF I was going to change I'd prolly go Yokohama Geolanders. Prolly a tiny bit quieter on road, and well known not to age out (crack sidewalls) nearly as fast as the Michelin's ...

I used to trust Michelin's (for 40 odd years), but have had four age out over the years and blow when looking fine. Yeah, they last, until they don't ... I just don't go there any more.

I got four Bridgestone Ecopia HL with 70k mile warranty installed at Costco for $570.

I've had Destination LE's, they wear out much faster than the claimed 60k miles.
But the main reason I didn't go back to Firestone is crappy customer service.

Depends on where you buy. Can't blame the tire for local shop service ...

Ecopia tires may be good for long wear, but they seem marginal for traction and are not known for a soft compliant ride ...

Much like winter tires, softer compounds grab better in most conditions. We pay for that grab with tire wear.
