RX300 Remote Reprogramming

RX300 Remote Reprogramming
Please help. I bought 2000Lexus RX300 that only has 1 key. It is the master. I bought used key on ebay and bought a blank chipless key and had it cut at a locksmith. Thought I could replace the key portion of the used ebay remote with the key portion of the cut blank. Found out this could not be done, but have been able to reprogram the remote by inserting the cut key in the ignition and holding the used remote next to it while following instructions found on this site. This programmed it to the point that I can start the car using the cut blank while holding the newly programmed remote/key next to it. It will not, however, lock/unlock the doors. After further search, I found instructions involving opening/closing the door (post by Nixsun79 dated 2-04-03 that I thought might program it for the doors. The instructions worked up to step 8 where the do locked and unlocked itself. But when I moved to step 9, and pushed the lock button on the remote for 1 second(I used the remote I was trying to program), nothing happened. I tried several times. If anyone knows what will work, I would very appreciate the help.

I'm glad to see you registered at Club Lexus as well!
The tricky thing about all the key programming is usally the timing. Have you tried a few more times to see if you can program your remote? Perhaps your timing was off at some point. It's worth trying a couple of more times.
Hopefully someone else here can provide you more details if you still can't get it to work.

Be sure to use the programming for the RX 300 and not another Lexus vehicle, some of them are different.
