Upper Oil Pan Removal
Ive been searching everywhere and can find much information on removing the upper oil pan. I want to remove it to get a look at the crank/connecting rods. I found the schematic that says it has 19 bolts that hold it in place. Has anyone removed the upper pan?

I have not come across any post on this on RX. SC has a casting that extends downwards
Just for clarification you may like to add how you plan to do it ..
With the engine still in the vehicle [most likely] ..some one can comment that it would require removing certain items.
or
Engine on the stand.

Upper oil pan replacement
2010 RX350 My upper oil pan needs replaced due to oil cooler line studs were cross threaded and causing aluminum mount on upper pan to snap and break. Taps will not work it actually broke a chunk from the aluminum pan.
Can anyone tell me if it can be replaced with engine in or will it need to be pulled?

Interesting, I never heard of the No. 1 Oil Pan before.
You might consider buying the service manual on CD https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...rock-auto.html
One of the included documents is "Lubrication.pdf" which provides oil pump change instructions. The procedure includes removing the No 2 and No 1 oil pans.
It looks like you can drop the lower, remove the strainer, then remove the upper.

At the lower end of the engine block there is an extension block and then there is an oil pan at the bottom. Are you referring to the extension block?

I stand corrected, it is no1 oil-pan.
Now to OPs question ..
I have not attempted to remove this so what I am sharing is gleaned from other posts.
People have removed the engine from below. There are obstruction ... suspension, steering and cross members [structural]. So if the engine can be dropped, then for sure oil pan #1 can be removed from below, but you will have to remove each or some of the items listed above. Hopefully engine mounts can remain in place, else you will have to rig up support from above.

Well?
Have you figured out what you had to do to remove the no. 1 oil pan? I found the service manual procedure mentioned above, but that is (as mentioned) for removing the oil pump. I don’t see where removing timing belt, AC compressor or alternator would play into removing both oil pans from below. Please update us on how you made out.
