RX eats a/c compressors *UPDATED AND SOLVED*
Good Evening,
Lindsay the Lexus is back in the shop after the a/c had decided to stop working again on Saturday. This would be the second compressor that has failed. The only thing that keeps on happening since I had the a/c system replaced is when you activate the a/c it will bog down the engine and may or my not turn on right away. I have had to drive for anywhere between 10-20 minutes before the system would turn on. Once on, it works without a problem for the day.
It it is a NAPA brand replacement, new not rebuilt and the appropriate replacement relay has been installed. Is there something else that would be causing this? I have seen postings about A/C amplifiers for other Toyota/Lexus models, could that be the culprit?

Your best bet is taking it to a a/c shop and have them look at it, also during the cold months make sure to fire up the compressor 2 times a week. when you have the heat on just hit the compressor button and let it
run for about 15-20 minutes this will move the Freon and Oil around the system lubricating the whole system. Your refrigerator at home runs for years and goes several times a day if you run your air in the Lexus it will
also last for years.

I would suggest have the shop install a Denso compressor. Denso being the OEM supplier.

**UPDATE**
It is fixed, finally. Works as it should. I can leave the a/c in auto mode and when it is restarted the a/c waits to kick on. When it does, it does so without bogging down the motor and kicking on the a/c blinking light.
They brought in a warranty guy to figure out the problem. They did replace with a Denso brand compressor. Flushed the system (as a precaution), as well as a few other bits and pieces and of course, refilled the coolant. All covered under warranty.
If you are in San Diego and need a shop, the guys at John's Automotive are really good and work hard to make you happy. Plus their warranty of 36 months/36,000 miles is really good. Especially on an older vehicle like this.
Suspension on will be next ....
