Thumbs up ABS - Please HELP?

Gents - Need your help here. I have a 2002 RX300 that has been an amazing car. It has 215k and is still going strong. Lately - the ABS is engaging at every stop - you can feel the pumping of the ABS system as you come to a stop. Took it to my mechanic - he replaced all the brakes - but could not fix the ABS issue. He said the brakes are fine - I just need to live with the ABS engagement. But - I simply can't live with the ABS engagement - it feels like 'rubber bands' when you put your foot on the brake pedal at a stop.

Using the forum information here (thank you) - I identified the 60 AMP ABS fuse in the main fuse box under the hood. That said - I cannot remove the fuse - it is simply too difficult to get out - and I am afraid I am going to break the fuse or damage the box.

Does anyone know how to easily remove the fuse?

Also - if I can't easily remove the fuse - is there another way to disable the ABS SYSTEM that is user friendly - without having to take the car to my mechanic?

Many Thanks

You can easily remove the ABS relay. It is mentioned in this thread

Welcome to Club Lexus tmosh.

Disabling is one but have you made an attempt to fix it. It can be expensive.

What you are dealing with is Sensors, controller, ABS modulator and one thing that is overlooked is the battery voltage and the alternator. Alternator and the battery voltage can be checked at any auto shop for free.

Thanks for your reply. I honestly have no interest in fixing it ( the ABS sensors, controllers, etc.). My RX300 has 215k on it - and I'm simply trying to hold on as long as I can without investing in it. Based on the forums here - it looks as though most people who have this issue are just happier running without the ABS feature.

You're welcome. Mine's been disabled for a few years.

Pretty crazy advice from your mechanic about just living with flaky ABS engagement.
The brakes aren't 'fine' like that.

Max there is a liability issue if a person removes/disables a safety feature. As an owner, you can choose to do that. I know we have been driving vehicles long before ABS and a non functioning ABS is always in the way.

I agree the brake job only would not fix the problem ,,, that is if the current brakes are able to stop.
