2002 rx300 key won't turn
Hello,
So I have a 2002 rx300 that has never had any problems starting or with the key ignition. Earlier this evening I accidentally entered my girlfriend's car key into the ignition because it looks almost identical. It did not turn at all and I took it out immediately once I found out. Now my correct car key will not turn at all. I tried jiggling and turning the steering wheel to one side and now the steering is locked as well and won't turn at all. The doors still lock and unlock electronically and there is still some electronic function. Any help before resorting to towing would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Can you physically use and turn the lock of the trunk and front doors? This would confirm that the key is good.
You may need to lube the ignition with graphite lubricant. WD40 short burst may help but an overstay will make a mess and can cause stains in future.

ps search in other model forums as well.

After lubing (always light lube), make sure the gear is fully in park, insert the the key, wiggle the steering, wiggle the key, which the key in the ignition, lift and drop the key [along the plane of the key blade, perpendicular to the insertion], remove the key and repeat.
In the mean time, plan your next step .. just in case the above remedy does not work. options are calling a mobile locksmith or having the car towed to a place of repair. Call the dealer in advance to check if they have the innards of the ignition as that is the only lock that does not work for you.
