The top is never called a mount .. it is a member that counters the torque produced by the engine. I t does not support any weight.
Fixing it will prevent more than intended twist the engine exhibits when more power is generated and when the engine takes up the reverse driving force from the wheel (engine braking). When I bought the RX back in 99, I did question the position of the front (it should be the left engine mount technically) as it was right under the oil filter. Well many years passed and after many oil changes, I did not see any deterioration. ymvv

Dr Coffee,
Hoping you are still lurking around the forums. I was looking at my front engine mount and there is oil build up on it. I noticed yours looked similar in the photo. did you remove yours at the time to check it was ok and not leaking as the source of the oil? Also, what was the condition was your top dogbone mount? My top mount is definitely damaged and I am going to replace. but I though maybe the front mount could be damaged also and is contributing to the top mount getting stressed.

So yes my front mount was oil soaked but I attribute that to the wonderful placement of the oil filter. I power washed it and moved on. The upper dogbone mount was fine. Had to remove it to change the timing belt. Use OEM. Aftermarket mount last about 1 year in my experience.
Nice to hear from you again.

Dr. Coffee,
Thanks for the quick reply. I already bought an Anchor torque mount (dogbone, p/n 8995) that will be delivered tomorrow from Amazon. If it craps out quickly I will get the OEM. they seem to be rated highly in general on Amazon so that is why I got it.

Rx300 1999
RX300 DETAIL
Hi, I live in Argentina and I bought a Lexus RX300 1999 that I think is missing a piece that would go in the sector of the rectangle.
Please can you help me with a complete image of it?
Regards, Carlos.
