Default RX300 Transmission Squeak/Squeal

Hi all,

My 2003 RX300 (FWD) recently squeaked and squealed for a couple seconds when shifting from park to reverse. It only does it when the transmission and engine are completely warmed up. I had a power flush done 18,000 miles ago. But I'm thinking of doing a "soft" flush (let the transmission flush everything out). It has 178,500 miles on it. Any suggestions/remedies?

Thanks in advance!

Change your filter as well. I had the same issue and filter and fluid change resolved it.

I changed the filter before I did the flush. But I'll do it again just to be safe. Thanks, I'll keep you all posted on what happens.

I am taking it to a shop in the morning to do an inlet flush, and then replacing the gasket and filter when I get home.

Those of you who have done the transmission pan and filter on your RX300's, do I need to put any kind of sealant around the transmission pan gasket? I did it last time, just to be safe... but is it necessary? Or will it leak if I don't use a sealant?

Thanks!

No need to put a sealant on the transmission pan gasket. IMO, I'd recommend against it actually, as you don't want to contaminate the transmission fluid with such sealant.

Thanks hypervish!

Someone else had posted that you didn't have to in another thread as well, but I thought I'd just get a second opinion lol. I appreciate it!

UPDATE:

I got a BG Transmission Inlet Flush, and replaced the filter and transmission pan gasket. It made the noise again a few times before completely stopping. Looks like it lubricated whatever was rubbing together and all is well again... for now.

Thanks for your help and suggestions!

I am glad that everything worked out for you. Next year this time just do a drain and refill and you should be ok.
