Default MPG display is jumping around

I have a 1999 RX 300, the digital display showing my MPG just started jumping around, displaying all kinds of crazy numbers. Has anyone heard of this happening? Can it be reset of repaired?
Thanks

Disconnect your battery for about 20 minutes, and it should fix your problem!

Welcome to CL.

I always recommend to new members to read the owners manual.

Yes, disconnecting the battery can fix the gremlins in the software, but you may not have a problem to begin with. If your display is changing from 0 to 100 (0 when stopped to 100 when you are going down hill with your foot off the gas) then your display is set to show you, your instantaneous (every few seconds) mpg. If that is the case, read up the manual and it will tell you more and introduce you to other features.
