Default How much does your oil change cost?

Hello my fellow Lexus'ers! Just out of curiosity, how much do you pay for your oil changes at a Lexus dealership? What oil do you use?

You can always take your own oil which ends up much less $/qt. You have to trust they are using the oil you supplied.

Also do not expect that a master tech would be doing your oil change.

About $100 for an oil and filter change and "complimentary" car wash. About $200 for the "5000 mile service" (which I stopped asking for after the first one)!

You'll see a lot of owners use Pennzoil Platinum -- no oil consumption problems since I switched from Mobil 1.

I applaud those of you who still take their RX300 to the Lexus dealer, let alone for oil changes!

Don't know if that's suppose to be sarcasm and a bad thing, or if it's meant to be good...?

It's a good thing, means you still care about your vehicle even after up to 15 years.

I would not be able to afford Lexus service for 15 years.

Haha, the dealer charges me $101, and for that, the closest lexus dealer is 45 minutes away. I usually just go to toyota across the street and get it done. Though when lexus services my RX, it rides much more smoother rather than when toyota services it. I personally think my toyota dealer is a rip off.

I am not trying to defend the dealerships but here is a break down with my estimates

1/2 hr labor at dealership rates ($60)
5 qts oil ($35)
Filter ($10)
Washer ($2)
Disposal fee ($5)

Total about $120 when you add tax

I fail to see why folks are complaining.

DIY and save

Oil, is$26 for full synthetic from Walmart and you pick the brand I use Mobil 1
Original OE filter is $4.95 from Toyota
Washer is $.75 from Toyota
Toyota offers quick lube for less than $50

less than $30 for 5 quarts and oil filter. I change my own oil in garage during winter. Save that extra money for another week's worth of gas.
