It is not clear to me how the stubby mounts to the Tacoma assembly; please advise.

the stubby comes with a 1 1/8 inch long threaded stud that screws into both the antenna and the mast.

Reviving an old post here

Great write up. The antenna on my 99 rx was siezed half way up. I pulled the unit out last night to remove the mast and it would not budge. So I tugged and twisted and allowed my ego to get the best of me.

I guess I wont be needing the replacement mast now.

I came in the house feeling defeated and searched out info. This thread is a great idea. I did the taco whip mod on my 99 4runner to switch from a power antenna to a solid mast. Im going to do the same on the rx. The mast on my 08 sienna has the same black mast as the tacoma. Im guessing there are a few more toyotas that have the same part.

Whats good to know is the taco base will fit in the tube of the rx fender mount. I'll need to take a trip to the pick and pull junk yard and see what I can find.

Did you ever get this resolved? I like how our newer vehicles no longer have antennas mounted to the body, I should have done that mod.
