the first mod on my SC was getting rid of the antenna.

i will post some pics today if i get a chance. it makes the car looks wider i think without the antenna. i took it off, and used a bondo patch on the back, then bondo'd it up, sanded nice and flat, then attempted to match paint with maijer spray cans, lol. it looks pretty damn good for a 2 hours garage job, lol. when i have the car painted i will either leave it and have them paint over it...or crack out the bondo and weld closed. but either way, i hated that antenna, and now its gone, lol. next mod: hidden antenna, lol.

yup. i heard of some that go up the A pillar....but i dunno how well they would work. i also thought that the 95+ i believe had the antenna in the back window. is that true? cuz if all else fails, my brother installs auto glass for a living, and he can hook me up with a back window with antenna in it. i thought i read that on some site that had all the different mods and additions to each year SC. but if that doesn't work, it'll be the front windshield antenna.

Shaving off your antenna the right way costs a pretty penny. But if you are having your car painted, it's much cheaper.

I was quoted around $450 to remove the antenna and to weld shut the opening. I believe Din posted some pictures of his car with no door handles or antenna.

shaved door handles are cool lookin for show cars, but your not allowed on a drag strip if you don't have door handles. as far as i know at least. thats why honda kids shave out their passenger doorhandle, but leave their drivers side, lol.

I wonder if you can replace it with a stubbly antenna like the one from a s2000. it has an amplified base and there would be no use of the motor (which makes an annoying sound).

I had mine removed and shaved recently. Just buy a window mount antenna and you'll be fine. Heck I don't even have that right now and the radio still works fine. You just get poorer reception if you go into underground parking lots.

Perry-
Nice job on the antenna. What does it look like from the back of the car?

As far as radio antenna goes, I'd rather have a windshield mount than a whip antenna for a replacement these days.

Thanks. With the trunk closed, it looks normal from every angle. I'll elaborate more later, so as not to hijack venom's thread. I realize that not every one wants to switch over to satellite radio (especially since you can only hear Tom Leykis on terrestrial for now!).

Bumping this thead back up to answer engin_ear's question and maybe
give it more exposure so venom gets his questions answered.

Here's the requested view from the back-
there's a satellite antenna in there somewhere:

Oh now I understand!!!!! I didn't realize that the SC spoiler goes all the way down to the trunk lid. So you've got the antenna IN the spoiler! Awesome!!!!
