Correct. Unless you go with a complete aftermarket system (head unit/CD changer), no other OEM-compatible changer will allow you to have both on the 99-03 RX300.

Partywave was able to do it. I believe his installer used an additional cable though.

Wasn't that just an ipod install?

In the alternative, is there a stand alone blue tooth system; something with its own audio source that doesn't run through the radio (akin to the old hard wired phones) that anyone would recommend?

Not sure, you will have to ask him.

I use an FM modulator (iSimple IS77), and I have that connected into a Kanex AirBlue which is basically a portable bluetooth music receiver.

Default Bluetooth adapter and CD changer

Thanks for your insightful information about this versatile product that seems to work well with our RX300's. I'm curious about your above statement. Is the CD changer permanently disabled in favor of the Bluetooth device, or is it only while the Bluetooth is linked to the phone (or other device)? If so, I'm not sure why both would be in use together... perhaps I'm missing something because I have not used a similar device before.

Thanks!

You have to physically disconnect the cd changer and plug in the BT-35 or whatever bluetooth module (GROM).

Angry BT35-TOY bluetooth install???

I just purchased a BT35-Toy with a CAS-LEX cable for my 2002 RX300 with Nav Radio. I removed the CD changer (required) and I'm ready to finish this 30 minute installation and I realized the cable will not connect. Looks like I need the same connection on both ends.So what am I missing? Does anyone have pics of this install?

Thanks,
Z

Default I want Bluetooth too, but no CD changer is a deal-breaker.

I guess I have to go with a hard-wired "aux" in system for Pandora and Android phone, because Bluetooth audio, although convenient, is not a replacement for CD audio. I think I saw another thread for connection at the amp under the back seat... It's too bad, this system sounded like just the thing, but why design it so you have to give up the changer? (in a first gen '99 RX300 standard Lexus "premium sound system") I'd be really disappointed - cheated - if I bought it, installed it, and then found out! Thanks folks for all your input on this site. I hope Zarfarm finds his connector.
