I hope you all are having a great evening. I'm new to the forum, and have a question for you.

I did a few things to my 2000 RX300 today from the DIY thread covering the fuel eco. used all the recommended cleaners, and took of the neg bat cable off, and back on. I am now getting some erratic idling, and a blinking engine light. now what?

A blinking CEL usually means a mis-fire. I suggest you get the codes read and post them here. AutoZone will check the codes for free.

 

I think I got some water in a coil when I washed the RX. The code is a misfire in #3. is that in the front or back. The coil in the middle front did not have a rubber gasket on it, and had water in the cylinder.

 

Also it was shifting odd in town, and at highway speed. It was at 4000 at 60mph.

 

I believe it is
1-3-5 in back
2-4-6 in front

 

Some error codes will put your RX in limp mode and take away the overdrive. Solution is to reset the codes (temporary solution) or fix the source of the problem codes.

I have similar issues with my lexus rx330. The check engine light keeps blinking, the car shakes even when stationary with the engine on especially in traffic, and the car does not ride smoothly on the high way.

I took it to a mechanic workshop/servicing centre where it was suggested that it's engine spark plugs problem which I let them change all six. The air filter and adjacent parts were cleaned including the air flow meter. However, prior to the development of this "flashing check engine light" they have changed the passenger front shock absorberror, both shaft tubing protector, and the two steering locks (the thyroid, the previous day. The problem continues.

Today, I had the car scanned and got these codes:
C1223 (malfunctioning ABS)
C1246 (malfunctioning master cylinder pressure sensor)
P0304 (s1 and s2)

Please I need help for the interpretation of these results/code and how I will sort out these problems.

I would suspect cylinder four has a bad coil pack.....(P0304) I would go after that first, clear the codes and see what happens. One other thing what kind of spark plugs did they put in the vehicle, hopefully NGK or Denso iridium. If they put Bosch plugs in your looking at trouble....If Denso or NGK than I suspect bad coil pack. ( Each Cylinder has its own ignition coil unlike cars of yesteryear)

 

The spark plugs are all NGK plugs. The system was cleared only for it to reappear on matching the accelerator pedal.

 

cylinder 4 is front middle. Try swapping the coil pack of #4 with #2 or #6 and see if the problem moves. If it does then you know that you have a bad coil pack. If it stays then swap the spark plugs.

Once you have all cylinders working then trace the ABS. The ABS pump/motor is where the passenger side shock is anchored to the body. Who ever worked on the car may have left a connector hanging, so start with a detailed visual around the pump. [The pump is the device where you will see number of hydraulic lines coming to it].

check the ground to the spark plug harness on the passenger side of the manifold. Shaking and misfire problems can happen if it isn't secured. It should be a 10 or 12 mm nut.
