Default Cabin Filter location RX300 with CD changer

My Owner's Manual does not show how to replace the cabin filter when you have the CD changer. Where is the filter located, and how to replace it?

if you open glove box and look back above back of box theres a rectangle cover pull it off and theres the air filter pull it out pop new one in and put cover back on cover can be tricky put bottom in first and pop top of it in not too hard

The CD changer is not an issue. You slip out the top-back piece of the glove box and you have access to the filter cover door. Pull that out with your fingers or some pliers and you see the filter.

Nice to see how this is done, but they guy states "rember, the air you engine needs to run goes though this" when he is talking about how dirty it is.

This got me rolling on the ground!! Talk about not having a clue...

Thanks, everyone! I will get to this task asap, and the next one will be my wife's ES300.

I have experience with my mother's ES300. You empty the glove box and unscrew the slide to lower it. A little more difficult than the RX300, but still not too bad.

That part of the video was shared from the engine's air filter inspection tutorial. True, an overlook from the web admin's part but is nothing about 'not having a clue'. BTW, I found carecarekiosk dot com a very useful site.

Wow, I have to clean mine every month. Debris gets in there all the time, I just rinse it out let dry and spray some air freshener on it then reinstall.

I suggest replacing the filter rather than cleaning it. You only remove the visible debris, but there are many more particles stuck in the filter hindering air flow, and lowering the efficiency of the HVAC system.

The "mouse in the glove box" noise is a well documented problem on these boards. The quick explanation is that it is probably one of your servo's going bad. I'm having the same problem and plan on replacing one this week. Do a search on here for servo's as there's a lot of information on how to do this repair.

(1) The noise is probably from a servo motor in the dashboard for the HVAC. Do a search on here and you will find out how to get to them.

(2) These transmissions from the factory have screens instead of filters. Meaning you can just clean it and put it back. That is unless someone has already replaced the filter with a paper filter. Since you can no longer buy a screen filter. You can use brake cleaner to clean the transmission pan. Remember to use a Toyota Type-IV transmission ATF.

(3) I haven't used Auto-RX personally so I can't really comment on that.
