Default Servicing question

Hello All

I bought my first Lexus, a second hand RX300, last weekend. I already love this car and am quite keen to learn about doing my own servicing for which this forum has been amazing - big thank you to all the kind people who post DIYs! But I have some questions (please bear in mind I haven’t had the chance to get my Lexus up on ramps yet, and my experience to date is with a manual shift car). My questions are:

1) When you remove the drain plug for the transfer oil, why doesn’t the transmission oil drain off as well?

2) Following on from question 1, if I do a full transmission and transfer oil change, will the transfer oil compartment be filled via the transmission fluid dip-stick hole or a separate filling hole underneath the car? I have read both ways.

Many thanks!

Once you crawl under, you will find that there are two low point. The chambers are connected at the top. To remove the sediments, drain both points. The dip stick is the common fill point.
