The cables are attached to the inner door handle/latch. Just don't remove them from the handle/latch b/c the plastic is brittle and tends to break. Just pull the inner door handle/latch through the plastic dust shield after you unbolt it from the door.

I paid the dealer to replace the driver's door lock on my 2000 RX300 ($$YIKES$$), and afterwards checked the board here to find out this was a common problem with known DIY fixes. So when the rear driver's side door lock broke I knew better. It took me a while to get up my courage but thanks to the instructions on this thread (especially 2002RX300 and dnelli) I was able to replace the motor on the first try, with no parts left over or broken. I call that a success!

Thanks!!!
Owen

Yes the dealer is outrageous on price for this job. If I remember correctly, I was quoted $525 to do just one door... So no. I have contacted a member on here and will be meeting up with him in the beginning of February to replace mine. Can't wait because I am tired of manually pushing them closed.

I used the wire stripping hole in a set of pliers to hang the motor and used a drill bit to push the shaft out.

This appears to be out of Hong Kong- a little hard to tell. I believe I'd choose to deal a little closer to home (at least continental U.S.).

Yep, code58 was right about it being in HONG KONG. If you can, I would cancel the order. There are now a few on ebay that are in the US, I only mentioned dealextreme b/c at that time they were the only micro pinion gear pullers I found available.

Strange thing has happened to me in last 2 weeks.
2 weeks ago i noticed a rear door didn't lock so i manually did it for a week figured i would read up later.
Then noticed this week front passenger lock wasn't opening or locking. And the auto door locks were continually trying to lock it whilst driving so i manually locked it. It stayed locked when using central locking.
Then today when unlocking car i had to do it manually as now the drivers door also doesn't unlock with the central locking remote. It beeps fine and can hear it trying to do unlock but nothing happens.

I just cant even comprehend how in a space of a week all the door locks decide to play up. We have had a few stinking hot days 100+ degrees Fahrenheit 30+ Celsius and now rain with lots of humidity sio having to drive home each night with lights on wipers going and radio is pumping blowing air con to stop the fog.
Just wondering do i start to panic yet or wait till cooler dryer weather? Three 3 locks is really odd. Also noticed clock is out 45 mins out and wondering if battery is now on the way out almost. guess i better test that first.
