Default Rear View Mirror

Looks like one of the ball bearings that held the rear view mirror together is broke, so I assume I need a new one. Is there an aftermarket one that anyone can refer me to to replace? I assume the Lexus replacement is really expensive. Thanks!

What do you think broke it? Overuse or not moved enough (got stuck and force broke it off)
Look for stuff like this posted on ebay.

The dealer parts would be new. Give them a call and see if it makes sense to pay the premium.

I would look for one with a compass.

Probably overuse broke it. Thanks for the quick advise!

The connector end is stuck in the roof pretty tight and I'm afraid to pull on the wire any harder. It looks like this:

Any recommendation as how to remove it?

Patience and probing will solve the problem and not brute pull force. There could be double sided tape to act as hold down (to prevent vibration). See the picture you linked to, to estimate the length of the wire.

PS: make sure you get the right color.

This is impossible to remove from the connector as it is in a very small opening. There is something holding the connector pin from dropping thru (see attached link). Do I have to remove the inside roof covering to get to this? If so, any idea how?

patience, long fingers, keep turning and twisting to get the right angle and it will come out. Some times it helps to push the wire in and then wiggle and then gently pull it out (the connector may have spun to the fat side).

Get an assistant to hold the old mirror and or some one with slender and long fingers. Flat screw driver can be of help as well ... remember to remove battery terminal before you go poking metal things.

Yes, it will eventually come out. The worst thing is you pull the plug out and leave the connector unreachable inside.

oh, push and tuck the bundle 9blue-brown and white wires) ... these could be the far end of the wire bundled up in the front.

You access the wire by removing the sunglasses holder. A new mirror from Lexus with the Auto Dim feature is $897.xx. Don't ask me how I know...
But you are able to buy just the piece with the ball bearings. That's how mine was fixed....
