Default Reset Security System

I removed the EFI fuse to reset my CEL. But, now I can't unlock the car's door once I start the car and shut it down (with the key out of the ignition)...any ideas. I had this happen once before after removing the battery and re-installing but i can't remember exactly what I did it was something like sticking the key in the passenger door and then the drivers door or something like that to have the ECU recognize the key.

I can lock and unlock the door from inside too but that's without turing the car on, once the car has been turned on and back off i can't unlock the door once I remove the key. To unlock all doors I have to press the unlock button on the remote.

Any Idea's as to what I can do to solve this... Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to start a thread on the SC side of the forum : https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-400-300-6/

Also, just realized I never updated this thread.

This is how I reset the security system each time after disconnecting the battery:
  1. Insert master key (non-remote master) into driver's side door.
  2. Remove key.
  3. Insert master remote key into driver's side door.
  4. Remove key.
  5. Insert master key (non-remote master) into ignition.
  6. Remove key.
  7. Insert master remote key into ignition.
  8. Remove key.

You can keep it from arming by shorting the hood courtesy switch wires. I made a post on how to do it, not long ago.

Unhappy 99 rx300 security

I just replaced the computer box in my car. Now, the security light came on and disabled the motor. Is there a way to reset it so I can start my car?. I can't wait to take it to the toyota dealer, they won't be able to get my car in until the end of next week. I really need to get my car back on the road before then, preferably, today, if possible. Is there anything that I can do to get it going?. Please Help!! Thanks.

Did you get a Master Key along with the ECU. The key cuttings would not have matched with your ignition/l;ock key, but the key is needed for the ECU. With that key you can register other (that would be your old key).

I hope Lexus can give you an answer to your liking, but in the mean time please secure at least ONE master key paired to the ECU. Else the ECU is useless. Once you have the key in possession, follow the instruction of registering new keys [in your case it will be the old key]

What if I only have the one master remote key? Would this still work if I only have the one?

Yes with a master key you should be able to start/run and register another key.

I did a fair amount research on this when my 04 RX330 started doing the same thing. I got a lot of different solutions I tried this thinking there was no way it would be that easy after all I had read on it. I was wrong it worked great. You find truth in the simplest of answers
