Default O2 sensor

My VSC and CEL came on, so I went to Advace Auto Parts to get read the code and I got P0135. After reading the code, both lights went out. About 1 week later both lights came on again. So I replaced the sensor between the firewall and the exhaust manifold and removed the fuse to reset the ECU. Turned on the car after putting the fuse back in and both lights were out. The next morning, only the VSC light came on. So went back to Advance Auto Pars and read the code again and still got P0135. After reading the code, the VSC light went out. The next time I stated the car, the light came back on. Anyone know what how to fix this?

What kind (brand of sensor) were you using?

A few things come to mine.

An exhaust leak in that are of the sensor could throw the air/fuel ratio off. Another possibility is any kind of injector block on the rear bank of fuel injectors, again throwing the air/fuel ratio off. After I put in some new a/f sensors, I ran some Redline Fuel System Cleaner, but anything like Chevron Techron or Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner works well, too.

Also keep in mind that after putting a new a/f sensor in, it sometimes needs time to adjust. This is one of the reason I have diagnostic software to verify the bank readings.

The other oddity here is pulling up the P0135 rather than the P1135. Not a biggy, because both refer to bank 1, sensor 1 (same sensor near firewall that you replaced), but I might see if I can go to an Autozone (if possible) and see if they can also reverify the code or someone with a different scanner.

I went to Autozone and they gave me the same scanner as Advance Auto Parts, and it also gave me the same code. I tried running a fuel system cleaner. I already ran the entire gas tank. Do I need to reset my ECU to see if the fuel system cleaner worked?

You can, but CELs may initially occur until the drive cycle is complete. I usually like to do a 50/50 mix of city/highway getting above 55 mph at least once, 15 minutes of such driving usually does the trick. I wish I had my scanner there to see what readings you were getting on that particular bank to see what the issue may be and also see if there is any exhaust leak there.

Yes, but you're going to have to start up the vehicle and go underneath and carefully feel with your hand (not touching the pipe but close enough to feel heat) to see if there is any exhaust. Often, it is not audible.
