hard shift between Drive/Park/Reverse
i searched but couldn't find anything
i am recovering from a high idle problem caused the combination of a bad o2 sensor, IACV and MAF. because the idle was doing 1100rpm+, the transmission would engage very hard between drive/park/reverse. if my foot is not on the brake hard enough the car will chirp the tires and try to jump forward or reverse.
now that i've fixed most of the idle issues (still have deal with the IACV), my idle is back to around normal, but on occasion i would still get this hard transmission engagement. i do not have any CELs related to the transmission, current or pending, on a borrowed OBD2 scanner that i've borrowed.
help? i don't know where to begin

This issue is pretty common with most Toyota Products. I have a old camry that did this as well as my RX. Easy way to avoid the hard shift is to be sure to use the parking brake. When your parked in the driveway, while in Drive keep your foot on the brake and and shift into Park while your foot is still on the brake engage the parking brake THEN let go of the brake. What this does is instead of putting all the weight of the car on the transmission it'll be on the parking brake. Next time when you shift out of Park be sure to put your foot on the brake first then shift out of Park Into Drive then disengage the parking brake. This time it wont shift hard because the weight of the car won't be resting on the Transmission. It can be especially hard shifting if you park on a incline without using the parking brake.
