Default 18RX Shifting reverse to drive isn’t smooth

I have 3,000 miles on my 2018 RX350. From day one I’ve questioned if it should feel smooth when shifting from reverse to drive after I back out of my driveway. It feels a little rough as I shift, does anyone understand what I mean/have same feeling? Thanks

No issues like that on our 17. Ask dealer and try another one on their lot to see if it behaves the same way.

It's pretty common across all Lexuses. You're likely not pressing the brake hard enough. Try adding pressure to the pedal when you shift from reverse to drive and see if it stops/reduces that sudden lurch effect. This is more pronounced when the engine is cold as the idle revs are increased until it's warmed up.

Also try Eco mode as Eco usually keeps the idle revs lower when cold. I've found that lurch effect is reduced in Eco mode. You'll still need to apply more force with the brake, but it doesn't feel like it's fighting you as much.

But I agree. I questioned it too. Very unexpected from a Lexus, considering how well everything else just works. It's arguably the most "un-Lexus-like" attribute, I'd say.

Yes mines similar in the driveway, so cold, a bit unrefined for a Lexus. As other poster said probably because the revs are higher when cold.

Speaking about Eco mode I keep mine in eco-all the time. It really helps to prevent most lurching that this car does. I know that lurching is supposed to feel like the car is faster but to me it just seems it makes it unrefined.
