Steering Wheel squeak
My 99 RX300 (192k and going strong) makes a sort of groaning squeal (low pitch) whenever the wheel is cranked vigorously (as in pulling in/out of a tight parking spot). The noise seems to be coming from the joint between the steering wheel itself and the column with the plastic cover where the wiper/turn signal levers come out. Anyone have a proven remedy?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Check the shell and see if both pieces are aligned properly. You may have to disassemble and reassemble. If you must (although I think you should not need to) you can apply a light coat of silicon grease. <= this may mess up clothes and also is a magnet for dust and grime. By design there should be slight gap to prevent rubbing.
