Default 2000RX: Clock resets on cold night

My wife's 2000 RX has had a strange problem for a while, it's just something we don't think about and adjust the clock when we see it happen but, it's an odd one.

When we get a cold night here and get in the car the next day, when you turn on the car, the clock is reset. The FM presets are there, the last temp you set is there, just the clock. This has been going on for a while now.

Any idea ?

It's probably the battery. That's one of the symptoms of a bad/dieing battery.

Is there another battery for the clock ? As the main battery was replaced not to long ago and it still does it (I thought about that myself)

No, it does not have a separate battery. Maybe the new battery is defective. Take it to Autozone and they can check it out for you.

No problem, also make sure that the connections on the battery are tight.

I got the same problem with one of the two 2000 RX300 AWD in the house. Althoguh the battery was back to workable cranking state after the sun came out, I took it to AutoZone and had it checked for "strength" and the reading was in "weak state." I paid about $90 for a good battery (700 cold cranking amps) with 3-year free replacement and prorated 7-year warrenty from AutoZone.
