i might be selling my car in the next few weeks or so. i think its time for me to move on ... im in a position where i want to keep my car but at the same time i want to sell it. its so hard to give up my car with all the work i put in to it .... what should i do????
I see it is a 2001. You don't say how many miles (kilometers). I tend to keep cars I like until parts availability becomes an issue. I don't know how long this will be for Lexus, but it was at the 20-year point on my old Mercedes-Benz. (I used to put maybe 8,000 miles/year on a car, so 20 years was only 160,000 miles.)

If you're not in love with the car any more, or it's really falling apart, then I would sell for sure. There's something about a car that sort of makes or breaks your day. My '92 Integra, still have and still love. Would never think of selling it because it's my first manual and probably my last. Also, nothing is wrong with it, drives fine, gives me 31mpg, has plenty of power still after 17 years, and makes me smile every time I drive it down a twisty road.
On the other hand, got a '98 Accord and hated it almost from day one. It was a last minute "had to buy" things and got it used. It came from a "friend" and there was body damage that I knew would bother me, but I thought I could forget it, but never did. Then little things broke here and there that drove me crazy, so got rid of it.
My RX300, not the most "up to date" in terms of technology (no nav, no power liftgate, no HID), but it serves it's purpose, to transport my three kids and wife around places and never fails to get us there and back. Drives like a charm still at 125K and AC still works.
There is nothing major missing from it that the 2nd generation, or even the 3rd now, has that would make me switch right now. If the current RX350 were to have a sexier body, then I might switch for all the new goodies, but lack of 3rd row and just plain-Jane looks, I'm not in.
If you did sell your RX, what are you looking to get? Another RX, or something different? Like Porsche 911T?
I'm sure that since you're asking, there must a reason you're looking to sell. Either car issues, lost that loving feeling, or just plain boredom with owning something for over 9 years. I can see where those feeling creep up, but you just gotta sort through your feelings and see what your underlying reasons are and then... go from there.

I like my lower registration cost, and a known of every part in the car. 166k and still running on our original new purchase 99 RX. I upgraded to mp3 jack and recently the motorola hf850 bluetooth, so my wife is happy. everything works. will keep, and no car payments....

yes i do have a itch for another car maybe a rx350 or ls430 ...
There nothing wrong with the car... the car still run great and still has alot of power. I love my car its the first I seen around my area that is modded also its a head turner / twister. It gets alot of attention everywhere I go.

To your first point, I have a '04 LS430 also and if you do buy it... it's like night vs. day between the RX and LS. LS rides so plush and quiet, you'd think you were in a cave compared to the RX. The two can't really be compared to each other, but you'll definitely drive the RX less after the LS.
If the car is not giving you problems, keep it. Its 4speed tranny and gas mileage is not efficient, but keeping it is always better choice financially.
If money is not an issue, a newer car is always better. 2010 RX is nice, Venza is nice. There are a lot more nicer cars out there that I wanted, but I can't afford for another car.

^ what lexina said. given the economic uncertainty of these times, it may be wise not to buy a new car (with the corresponding car payments). however, if you are financially secure or you are fairly confident that your job is stable...sure go ahead and change your car. a new car means new mods, and that is always the fun part!
