How many miles will you keep your GS?
Ok, I am having a minor dilema. My '98 GS400 is going to hit 80K miles this week. It has been a pleasure to drive this whole time. My only problem is that once the car get's near 100K miles, it will be very difficult to sell (my opinion). Even though it is a Lexus, people still have issues with purchasing a car with that many miles. Even if I don't have too hard of a time selling it, the price will be much less then what I can sell the car for now (mid twenty's??).
I guess I am trying to decide selling the car now (and taking a minor depreciation hit) and purchasing a lower mileage car, or just driving this one into the ground (well, drive it another 5 years). What are your guys plans?

It's a litle late now, but your better off 2 keep a car for a couple yrs. or a certain milege and then get rid of it instead of running it to the ground, because it's easier to get rid of. I'd say try getting rid of it now before u hit 100k, becuase then u might as well give it away.
I plan on keeping my lex for 1 model year + 1 year.
One model year is cool but I never buy first year cars cuz of quality control so 1 year + 1 year fits. I don't care about miles as much cuz anything over 50k is worthless anyway IMO.

Wish I could do that but I'm a lonely college student with my parents supporting me. I need to get a better job. I'm thinking of getting a Yamaha R6 as a daily driver. That way I really can just let the GS sit in the garage.
my parents are supporting me but helping with the car. glad to know i'm not the only one. i'll just have to drive it out of lack of options...poor me, right?
i'm gonna drive this damn thing until i could get a few other nice cars and this GS will die with me. you always hear car-lovers saying they should've kept this or that. so i'll keep this forever, my first real car

I've always had a habit of switching cars about once every 6 months (even with my past '98 Supra TT with 18K miles). I told myself I wanted to drive this one into the ground for once.
I'm only at 57K miles right now, bought the car at 51K miles, and have had this car since January 2002. At this rate, it looks like I'm never getting another car!
The thumbs up goes to Brendan who's looking to get the R6. I'm striving to have an R1 by next summer b/c this summer is nearly over. They are just too sweet.....

It's not unusual to get 200K+ on Lexus V8's. Probably the GS3's as well. The key is how you care for it and drive it. If you've had it this long already then you know if you have a good one although almost all are anyway. So it comes down to what you feel like driving.
I was going to sell mine as I tend to trade often ( 7 cars in 4 years but 3 were fun weekend ones). However, I'ver decided to keep this one as each time I look at sometrhing else, I get back in my GS4 and feel just right.
Good luck. There's always more iron out there.

I am planning to keep the car. I will get another car eventually, but it will not replace my GS. After about 10 years, GS will either become a beater car for me, or a project car to try things with.
