My Trans. stick only goes in one way. It has a bend at the tip, and the bent tip part points to your left when you stand at the front while checking. It won`t slide in but in that one same position or the bent tip stops from going in. Is this the same thing for yall? The weird thing is that the fliud level shows different on both sides? I go by the backside with no words. The side that has cold and hot is high on the stick. Hmmmmm
Yep,my dipstick is the same way,As far as the fluid level check, the AWD should take around 4.25 qts. with the differential drain as well. The fwd should take around 3.9 qts. EH,I said dipstick.Ahhhh,hahahahaha.
Yea when you slide the dipstick it must get residue on the bend, on the front side. The one side that is messed up is always stretching, the back side has a defined line level....

Same here. But if you think about it, the lowest solid line of fluid is going to be the actual reading. It doesn't matter what side you use, as long as you read the lowest level that's covered in fluid - one side is probably rubbing against the filler tube.
I drained the trans, drained the x-fer case/diff (the other sump next to the trans) and replaced the oil strainer...mine took 5qts and still is short of the "hot" mark after I reached normal operating temp.
