Always check in Park, after running through the gears to get fluid flowing....and engine on. There is a min and max dot ont he dipstick, when cold the min is normal, when the tranny is hot dont go above the max mark on the dipstick in Park with the engine running.

I just took out a quart. Now i am at the very tip of the stick, after a run down the street and running at park. I guess i need to add some to get it in the middle. Boy this is confusing.

I'm in a similar hell as you today. I was planning on reusing the metal screen filter but it turns out a paper one was in place. Called Lexus and Toyota and nobody has one so they have to fedex it from LA. I'll be running Mobil 1 also. good luck!

Dont bet on getting the screen filter, I ordered one from Lexus, and guess what it was the paper one. I handed it back and said sorry, but I ordered metal, He said apparently the part has been replaced with the paper filter.

I seem to recall somebody writing here a month or two ago that they got a metal screen filter from Toyota that was the right part.

yea,it can be a little frustrating.Reach under the front of the car and touch the trans. pan.If it feels luke warm, the fluid level should be around the middle of the low/max reading. If it feels hot to the touch, should be around the max level on the dip stick.(thats how I do it anyway) this time of year.In the summer time,it always falls in the hot catagory. These trannies run very cool in the winter time.(mine does anyway) Then again, mine is retarded,so this may not apply to your`s........

After Lexus switched to paper-like filter, do they still recommend drain and fill or drop-pan replace filter.

Any Lexus tech/service-adviser on line?

My previous experience with paper-filter was 60k mile service, required dropping pan and replacing the filter.

Are you guys sure that is paper? I got a rubber gasket{no cork** from autozone with the filter for $16.00. It looked just like the one from Toyota i took off. They both seem to have a synthetic fiber look.

The term paper is used loosely ... it is some fiber as opposed to wire mesh (screen).

My Trans. stick only goes in one way. It has a bend at the tip, and the bent tip part points to your left when you stand at the front while checking. It won`t slide in but in that one same position or the bent tip stops from going in. Is this the same thing for yall? The weird thing is that the fliud level shows different on both sides? I go by the backside with no words. The side that has cold and hot is high on the stick. Hmmmmm

Ok, ok. I'll double check my records. If I am remembering incorrectly, I'll fess up!
