I am using the Castrol 0-30 european formula that Lex Mex talked about. So is that the same formula as the Castrol Edge?????

They're different

I'd stick with 0W30 at least unless I see something miraculous of UOAs after people give it a try here, but I don't expect anything given the tech specs.

Here are the tech specs

http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp...syntec_usa.pdf

http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp...strol_EDGE.pdf

I like the viscosity numbers for 0W30. In addition, I usually look to see if the oil is BMW LL-01 approved, which I don't see for Edge. I think it may just be some marketing with the name (it's used overseas) (though the oil is likely quite sound and still good).

I just don`t understand why my 1mz-fe uses oil on the GC,and not on the Mobil-1 0W-30,and PP.Is my RX just dopey or what? Same thing with my transaxle/transmission,it doesn`t like its own Toyota fluid or amsoil....... I don`t get it!! I will mention that it runs nicely on the GC. I don`t know what this car would do if it had a driver that was not in tune (so to speak) with it.

lexus114 I am using the GC and have no signs of useage, 3 to 4 k changes and the level stays at full. I do have seeping valve cover gaskets, but not enough to affect the level. I have a 2005 Ford F150 that never stays the same between changes, but I assume it is the crappy engine.....or poorer specs on rings, valve stem seals, etc....

Ha,ha,I`m just rambling thomas.I know,as I`m sure you do as well, that their are no two vehicles alike.I.e,mine may run excellent on brand x oil, your`s might not like it and visa versa.years ago I had two Chevy cavalier station wagons(remember them)any way,one was a 1983 the other was a 1985.Basically the same engine`s aside from valve cover`s and the exhaust manifold. My 1983 ran circles around my 1985 and it was the same oil in them. That might not be the best example in the world, but I think you see where I`m coming from here.I`m still puzzled re;the transmission though.

I have been running GC in my girlfriend's 99 5.4 L Expedition, those things love to suck oil. Though I have used some additives (Liqui Moly Motor Oil Saver and Restore), because I suspect there is a leak in one of the cylinders, but the problem appears to have been solved.

Hey, Hey Lenore, don't be disparaging our Ford modulars. Sorry you got a bad one, glad I got a good one. LOL Actually this my 3rd modular and all 3 have been great engines. It's amazing how many show HIGH miles without problems, even moreso the 2v. Course, don't try and get the plugs out- at least they don't blow out heh Lenore? LOL

Yea the engine runs great, but I have already lost an injector, I changed the plugs because of breakage at 28 k and put in one piece champion plugs...so far so good. I like the truck, have put in a Lincoln Mark VIII cooling fan, and a bunch of backup devices....

I used to have an issue in her truck with a misfire, but it appears to have cleared itself up after I did the oil and additives. I am sure some oil was sneaking in there.

I've yet to try this. I currently use Valvoline.

Not to highjack your thread, but Does anyone Recommend Amsoil Full Synthetic?

That's also a very good oil, you can't go wrong there.
