Question

I'm wondering if anyone knows the largest size (width) that will fit on on RX without spacers. The stock wheel size is 16x6.5. I wanted to go to 17 or possible 18 inches. I really like the GS 400 17's ,but will they fit - possibly the IS 300's 17 in. wheels? The GS is 7.5 and I believe the IS 300 is 7 inches.

Also, if I get larger wheels and do not keep the same aspect ratio, what is the best way to go about having the speedometer adjusted. Is it electronic or does it use a cable? Thanks for any information!

Hey Nick

Sorry to get to you so late on this topic...for some reason I missed it ever since you first posted the question. In any event, I know that you could definitely get up to 18 x 8.5, using some 15mm spacers and not having to worry about diameter change from stock. This is only true if you use 4" aspect tires.

I've also seen cases of RX's sporting wheels as big as 20". I'm not sure on the width of these wheels, but I don't imagine many people putting 20" wheels that are skinnier than 8".

I think a width of 8.5" is a good size for the RX, without any body panel changes. With this width, the wheel is flush with the fender flares.

There was this Crux body kit that extended the wheel flares by a good three inches, with wheels to match! The lip on those things were at least two-three inches wide. It looked so good. Alas, the Crux kit alone costs five grand. Add wheels, and you're looking at ten to twelve big just for aesthetics. I'd rather upgrade the ride before the looks.

No matter about the delayed reply, I haven't been home to see the board. One more concern I have is the aspect ratio. Say I get an 18in. wheel and tire combo with a sidewall on the tire that makes the size of the wheel and tire bigger (taller) than stock. Would a speedometer adjustment be necessary on a small size adjustment? Thanks for any more info. Also, the 15mm spacer is for the rear of the RX only (according to rodmillenstore.com and that seems odd to me that the front doesn't require one - I'm glad though since I'm not a big fan of using spacrs).

I run a 20x10 front and rear on my rx. I don't know the offset off hand but it doesn't rub at all

275/40 front and rear. The rubber alone makes the handling amazing

You got 275's to fit? Are they sticking out past the sides of the car? Pics?

Default 235-60-18

I put 235-60-18 on my RX. with no spacer needed. They are 18" LS460 rims that have been re bushed to fit an RX. Got them on ebay with Entry tires. By far the quietest tires I have ever had on the car bar none and I have had this thing for 12 years.

What do you mean by re bushed? Those wheels are 5x120.
