Install gasket when renstalling oil drain plug?
Is there a need to install a gasket to make a good seal when you put back the engine oil drain plug.
I have seen some sort of metal washer/gasket on other models, not sure when I tried to check with my finger on this one.
Is a gasket required?

Lexus uses crush washer and about 80% of times, it remains stuck to the pan and 20% stuck to the drain bolt. A gentle tap with a flat screwdriver dislodges it.
It is 80cents to a $1 at dealership and is a must replace.
Some folks re-use it but it should be replaced. Normally you will not a gusher when it leaks, but I hate drips. If the oil change was a DIY you have already saved enough money.
Note the torque on drain plug is with a new washer.

I did not use any gasket last time, and dang when I raised up my front to replace my front pads, I saw drips all over the pan and behind it. So far I have ZERO leaks on this babe, except this because of my stupidity. I dont have have a torque wrence, so I have to guess how much to tighten - dont want to strip the thread.
Guys thanks for the quick replies.
Since they come with the Toyo oil filter can I assume they are fairly universal? I have an RX300 and a Toyota Avalon and both have the same engine. If I ask for Avalon gaskets will they also work in my RX300?

i think all toyota use the same oil drain plug, so the gasket should be the same too.
Harbor Freight has torque wrench on sale.
IMHO, the TWrench is a must have for DIY. I always check my lug nuts when the car comes back from service.

If K&N has better flow, I'll might as well start using them. Will be better in the long run. And since I do my own oil change in my friends shop, that 1" nut for easy removal sounds good. Thnx Lexmex for your info.
