They stole your cluster?

I've heard of the rx330 lights being popular but the rx300 clusters? Thats a first.

I suspect the rx300 fwd custer should be the same. Can't say anything for the odometer reset on the car though? On BMW the odometer has to be reset by the dealer (to match last logged mileage) based on the logging of actual mileage on an alternate computer in the vehicle. If you attempt to reset a new cluster with any other reading other that the one in memory then the screen displays error.

Not sure if our Lexus' are that suffisticated, but seams logical since the odometer is digital and if not, then all highmileage vehicles would have clusters replaced and sold out of province/ state.

Sorry if that probably wasn't much help,
Cheers,

Fern

Check with Lexus parts and if the part number is the same then you are in luck.
Off hand I think they should be the same and maybe there is an additional idiot light for 4x4 .. which would be blanked out in regular (if any).

I think (not sure) the cluster has the display only for odo ... the milage is locked in the ecu rom.

Did you have insurance coverage on the RX? If so I hope they work this out with you.

That is what I was trying to tell you.

You might have to end up going to dealer to reset the actual mileage. I would discuss this with the dealer before DIY due to ecu odometer reading and new odometer from new cluster. On BMW the odometer reading does not get picked up from the former memory in ECU, but rather has to be flashed with dealer software and re-inserted in new cluster.

As stated before, I am not sure. Fern's experience from bmw says the odo reading is set in the cluster and I feel for RX it is not in the cluster. The old time mechanical counter the odo was part of the spedo dial. With electronic display, the issue is where the flash rom is located.

You may like to talk to your service advisor. If Lexus needs to update the ROM, their willingness to make the change will be needed. [There are legal implications ... nothing too serious, but you have to sign an affidavit stating the odo was modified/tampered/corrected and the true milage is xxxx at the time of resale. Your state laws can be different]. This may affect your sale price.

For our learning, please post what you find out.
