Default headlights?!?

I just bought a 2001 silversport.....I want to put the black housing headlights form a 99/00 on. Has anyone done this already??? Do they bolt right in? I currently have HIDS, I have not seen a 99/00 with HID's, so will I have a problem? maybe with the auto-leveling feature?? Thanks

The forum has been great so far... I will post up some pics when it starts to look like something...

I dont think it can be done since the 99/00 did not have HID as an option. correct me if Im wrong. you're better off just taking apart the headlight and just painting it yourself

just wondering, why would you want to change them? the lighting from the 01-05 RX headlamps look more elegant when compared to the 98-00 headlamp, and plus you have a silverport, i know its looks more sportier, but i think that the headlamps that came stock with the car look better. Im assuming that you have the grey silverport?

Default you can have your cake and eat it too

If you still want have stock HID, the internal chrome and black housings are exactly the same.
Just open both pairs of headlamps and switch them out! It can take you less than an hour to do.

"Once you go black there's no turning back"--that's not actually true in this case because I had black once, but then I switched back to chrome because I have M45 projectors inside(they have that extra reflector that reflects directly from the bulb through a hole, not through the lens--much like the '04 LS430)--but that created too much glare from the chrome housings because i had to cut and shave the chrome-not as even as I hoped for. So I am going black again and you should too.

I wondered the same thing when I got my charcoal baby....

I though about going for the smoked out look.

Let me know if you can do it without too much work

I've been MIA bc I have no internet. booo...

Anyway, you can get the lights out w/o bumper removal. Wheel well is way easier.

I'm sure someone has posted the process on how to easily remove the lights, and also how to pull the lens off by using a heat gun or an oven-->(WATCH OUT!). (So you should search for this. I may accidentally forget to tell you something..)

When the lens is off. Just unscrew the chrome housing and slip in the black one in...
