Default Key question

My wife just got a 2000 RX300 yesterday and all is well but she is wondering if the remote entry buttons can unlock ALL the doors instead of just the drivers side? If you push it twice it still only unlocks one door and if you hold it down all the windows roll down which is great in an Oklahoma summer. I'm guessing it only opens one but you would think they would set it up to open all of them including the rear hatch. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm guessing that this stuff can be programmed-in by a Lexus dealership. If you search under "C-best settings" on this forum you will probably get a list of the options that can be set.

All locks should unlock on second push of the remote un-lock button. But the second push should happen within a short period of time.

Check with dealer if there is a Cbest setting to set or overide normal operation. Also try other master key. Do your the beep for the second push? Else there might be a malfunction.

Welcome to CL, Horngreen!

Salim's right, the default C-Best setting of the remote locks is one push = driver's door unlock, 2 pushes = all doors (and tailgate) unlock. If two quick pushes of the button on the key don't work, see your dealer. Good luck, and we hope your wife enjoys her new RX!

One thing you might try is to pull the negative battery cable for a few seconds (we say this for a lot of things in this forum, but it does wonders).

Reason I say this is I had an issue with the RX automatically attempting to lock the doors on me, even with one open after a few seconds (such as when removing groceries). Pulled it and later the problem was gone.
