2001 RX Sludge Problem

Reason.....the excessive slickness of the synthetic formula does not allow the engine to really break in properly.
I'm using full synthetic and nothing else, frankly, I plan to just use it on any vehicle I purchase new in the future, a few pennies is worth the long-term potential savings, imo. The Honda still gets dino, I don't know what would happen if I threw synth. in her! Do BMW and Mercedes ship synth. OEM, I believe I read that here?

More importantly in my opinion is the poptential benefit of using synths. to prevent engine wear, i.e., deterioration, in view of the gell issue. I am concerned for my engine of the affect, whatever the real problem may be, that might be adversely affecting the long-term viabillity of my ~$3-5k?? engine. If a few engines with routine maintenance are really failing at ~~60k due to oil gelling, and I of course have no factual evidence to support that allegation presented in several posts, then I am really concerned what adverse effects might be affecting my engine, day, after, day?

MM, I think you give some good advice about using the 'dino' oil for breaking in the new engine.....that's wise for the first or second oil change. I think dmodem is in kind of a "once bitten, twice shy" situation & frankly I can't blame him.......how is one suppose to feel (although VERY rare I'm sure) after religiously maintaining your vehicle properly & the engine still fails?
The extra cost for synthetic is negligable imo as well.
