I just programmed mine from the directions in the manual using the opener's training button. I assume that didn't work?

I think that if you have a rolling code garage door opener, you have to somehow disable that. Instruction manual of a certain sears model i remember, there was a little red switch on the opener you had to flip to disable some part.

in short tho, I dont believe you can program the car to interract with a rolling code opener.

Homelink can be programmed to a rolling code garage door opener. Click the below link and follow the instruction. When you get to Step 4, click on the ROLLING CODE PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS to complete the procedure.

Good luck

HomeLink works with my rolling code garage door opener. It supposely has 10-billion combination.

In my case, I had to hold the button on my HomeLink, stick my head out of the moonroof, and hit the red button on my garage door opener WHILE HOLDING DOWN the HomeLink button. That's it.

Your garage door may vary.

HarrierAWD, I gave up programming my RX300's homelink button for garage door opener while ago, never worked for me. I have a "Chamberlain" opener purchased in 1993. I installed a wireless keyless remote opener and it worked in seconds.
Any ideas ?

I don't know "Chamberlain." If it has a "learn" or "smart" button on the unit, try doing it my way without using the remote. (I have the Lift-Master.)

Or look up www.homelink.com and your Lexus manual for more instructions. There are several ways to program this thing.

Good luck.

Chamberlain garage door openers are available at a number of retailers, including Lowes, Home Depot, and even Amazon.com.

Default Piece of cake programming Homelink

I also couldn't figure out why mine wasn't working, even after I followed the instructions as in the manual.

It turns out that my door opener is a "liftmaster" with the rolling code feature.

After locating the "learn" button on the back of the unit (you will have to remove plastic panel which covers the light) it was a peice of cake.

Instructions:
1) put the key in ignition in postition 2 (car not running)

2) hold down both homelink buttons on the outsides of the homelink tranmitter (to reset any existing codes)- you might have to do it for 20-30 seconds. red light on homelink will flash rapidly then let go.

3)Now, with the garage remote in one hand and the other hand holding the button on homelink you want to program (keep holding homelink until it pulses (not a rapid flash, takes about 20 seconds). When it is pulsing, hold the garage opener as close to the homelink button as possible while depressing door opener button also.

Shortly after doing this you will see the homelink start to flash rapidly (this means it is learning the code).

- let go of both buttons once it is flashing rapidly and

4)go to motor of door opener and hit the learn button (a light should turn on)

5) return to the car and press the homelink button you programed once, twice, ... upto 3 times until you see garage door open/ close.

Thats it...

I bet the biggest problem is most people don't know that their door opener has a rolling code system and you have to sync the motor with homelink by pressing the learn button on the motor.

Another point I want to make is, am I the only one that is pissed that my garage door can be opened without the key in the ignition (this is that the Homelink button is always powered). Lexus doesn't see this as a problem, I on the other hand don't agree and feel it is a big security issue. Kind of like leaving a key to my garage in plain view in the car. Lexus has directed me to Homelink stating "the homelink feature is supplied by others for Lexus", Homelink on the other hand has directed me to Lexus stating " Homelink is not the end installer of the product and as such will not be responsible for how it is incorporated into the vehicle's existing wiring....

BTW this post of mine is a re-post...
Cheers,

Fern

If I may add to this:

You don't want to reset existing codes unless you have a good reason doing so (such as keeping out the previous owner, your ex, etc.) None of your other remotes will work then. Most rolling code openers can accept up to 4 remotes.
