As the title states, my TouchPad and buttons are not working. I have an (had) an aftermarket android unit installed on the car. A few days ago I started the car and noticed the start screen on the aftermarket unit wouldn't go past the start-up screen. I tried resetting it with supplied restart button but no luck. What was/is odd, I still get functionality of the backup camera and parking sensors but then the screen just reverts back to the boot screen.
Trouble shooting, I disconnected the unit and checked all the wiring to make sure everything was connected securely. Good there.
I then unplugged the cars battery for 30 mins and reconnected. No change.
So I then re-installed the OEM navigation thinking it was the android unit. It was/is not. I followed the same sets above for more troubleshooting just to make sure. This time I took apart the shift/center console to make sure the TouchPad was connected properly. Good there and still no change.
The TouchPad lights up indicating its receiving power.
Has anyone ran into this before? I tried searching the forums for a few other models to see if there was a fix as well. It seems a couple other models have had a similar issue but was fixed under warranty. Curious if anyone has fixed this without taking it to the steelership?
I do not know, but even though the light lights, it may be a fuse or a bad circuit board component. Stealership aren't best diagnosticians, they would probably just take it out and replace everything. Might try local aftermarket alarm/infotainment installers. Might also try plugging in your phone to see what happens.

The display screen is simply just that. It is a “dumb” unit and only a screen. It will show the back up camera as the camera has a direct input to it and it simply “switches” to that when it detects voltage on a particular wire when going into reverse.
All the other controls go through your radio head unit and from my understanding this is what has stalled during boot up. So it is not your screen that is the issue but the radio itself.
As for troubleshooting it, you have already done everything I would suggest. My guess is that the OS has become corrupted somehow and it just hangs as a result.
My only suggestion would be to look for a used unit from a scrap yard. It sounds like you know how to re&re the unit yourself.
Well that's the odd part. Everything on the physical radio works. I can still bluetooth my music, listen to the radio, adjust the volume, switch tracks, etc. It's just the track pad & steering that have no function to them.

The touchpad (afaik) connects directly to the radio unit which gets back to what I mentioned earlier.
You mentioned the screen (radio) doesn’t boot up completely. The radios in our cars run a Linux operating system and if it gets stuck on boot it might not be loading the drivers that give it support for the touchpad and steering controls.
I would highly suspect the radio is in need of repair or you have a harness on the back that isn’t seated properly.
Does the voice command system work or is it just the radio controls on the wheel that doesn't work? Just curious and not sure how that affects the diagnoses. I agree with Brendan, it is remote controller input that is not functioning and where the 2 (3) inputs go into the unit is the most probable issue.
My honest suspicion though being that there was an Android unit installed, is that it fried something in the OEM unit as they typically intercept the OEM harnesses and bridge the connection to maintain the same functionality.
I also believe the android unit caused an issue somehow. I will take the entire radio apart tomorrow and triple check the harness is in good shape and all connections are secure. I have an appointment with the dealership Monday...I was hoping to avoid them.
It was the android unit. I took the entire radio apart and disconnected the aftermarket wiring harness. OEM unit, touchpad, & steering wheel is working fine now.
Thanks!
