I am going to get my rotors and pads replaced within the next couple thousand miles. For rotors, Stoptech, Brembo and R1 Concepts seems to be similarly priced. Any reason to choose one over the other?

R1 has a thread on this forum so not linking that one.

*Also is 1 QT of brake fluid enough?

I went with RR racing rotors. Big weight savings.

Did you notice any improvements that are associated with reduced unsprung weight? Accelerate better or stop quicker?

You know everything is in my head with no real measurement. I have Michelin PS4 tries and the lighter brakes and it feels better. You could really feel the better tires.

It stops the same as far as I can tell. I want to say it does feel quicker but that is me just feeling it. So who knows.

It does feel better running down a twisty mountain road.

Is it $2000 better? That's the question. The rotors I am looking at all about $400-$450.00.

Brembo is a well established brand in comparison to R1, but that's not to say the R1 rotors aren't a great buy, they are. I ran them on my previous car for 10 years, a few different sets and i wasn't disappointed with any of them. Stay away from the Posi Quiet pads that get combo'd with the rotors though, they suck. They named them Posi Quiet because the previous version of the pads were known for squealing you into oblivion. Now they brake less and squeal less

I see 3 options for brake pads:
  • Semi-metallic for $76
  • Optimum $168
  • Performance $190

I ordered CENTRIC 90944088 Single Axle from Rock Auto. Two front discs, pads, and install hardware, $293. It's working perfectly on the front of the GS F. I wouldn't run this at the track, but for a daily driver with occasional bursts of hard braking, they work indistinguishably from OEM.

For reference, I have two piece Racing Brake rotors on the IS F with Project Mu HC+800 pads. Totally different expectations.

just stay away from adding the pads entirely, order them separately from the rotors.

What is a good recommendation for pads that is within those price ranges I mentioned above?

If you are not tracking the car, just go to Rock Auto and buy their premium pads. You won't be unhappy with the performance.

I checked out rock auto and that’s most likely what I’ll go with. Thanks for the tip!
