Default New Turbo Engine

Sounds like the end of naturally aspirated engines for Lexus. I really hope they introduce this engine soon on the RCF. Or that the NA RCFs start depreciating quickly now so I can pick up a cheap one.

Welcome to the forum.

I doubt a 4L TT V8 will make it in the RC F. For the next gen, I'd guess a variant of the 3.5L TT V6 in the LS is more likely and in line with its German competitors.

Eventually, everything will go turbo, which is why I picked up an RCF because I wanted to be able to relish one of the best N/A V8 engines for years to come.

I said the same thing when it came to my E550 and 981S. Last of the naturally aspirated (V8/H6)! But then through test drives with a M4 and short ownership of a R35 taught me that the future really is in turbocharged engines. But naturally aspirated V8/10/12s sure have an unnatural charm to them.

Well, that 4.0 V8 Twin Turbo is the one going to the LC-F with over 600hp not the regular LC500, so no, it will more than likely not go into the RC-F. The RC-F will either keep its n/a V8 or go with a beefed up LS version V6 TT and I hope they stay with the V8, maybe with some more tweaks and get a bit more power out of it

Or drop the weight and make it all wheel drive.

Yeah the F cars have good amount of HP they just need to lighten up! Imagine 3500-3600 lbs and the 468 hp V8. Easily high 3 second car.

Sadly I've been trying to imagine that for years...

Only way I see that can happen is just mod an IS-F, remove the back seats, spare, and a small battery.

Supposedly the new Supra is going to be under 3500 lbs (maybe 3300~ish) and latest rumor is 340hp turbo 6.

That might be the way to go in 18 months if you want a lightweight Toyota. Though it'll probably get heavier as production nears.

My Supra weighs 3415 without any effort to lighten it as measured on a certified scale. That's what Toyota says it should weigh too. Corvettes at the time were 3100 lbs, and all Supra owners I knew were not happy about that especially after the massive marketing campaign talking about how they used hollow fiber carpet to save weight. The LFA was a huge disappointment from that perspective as well. US market models actually weighed more than my Supra.

It just isn't in Toyota's DNA any more. Way back in the Celica Supra days, they got it right, but not since.

340 hp?? you gotta be kidding me. A Nissan 370z nismo had like 350 hp like 10 years ago (yes I was a Nissan fan prior). O and weight was 3300 lbs too

Toyota probably will ensure the new Supra is not faster than the Lexus F cars so it doesn't take away their F sales.
