The Supra is iconic so am sure they will ensure it lives up to its legendary status even if it means being faster then the F cars. From a marketing point of view the Lexus F cars could be a harmonious balance of luxury and performance and the Supra be a "*****-to-the-wall" performance car enough to give Nissan GTR a run for its money. An ultra high performance supra generates great press which translates to more sales for F cars and the entire Toyota/Lexus line, a brand ambassador so to speak. In my opinion that would be the smarter play, a pure performance faster Supra.

I would so love for you to be right on this! Sadly, I am very doubtful. All we can do is wait and see at this point.

I've been all over the supra boards and while there is no official info from Toyota, right now it looks like the 'base' supra will be about 340 hp from a turbo 6 and a year or so later there may be a higher performance option. No guarantee on the bigger engine and still unsure if a manual transmission will be offered at all.

We can only wait and hope.

Actually, that is a misconception. If you read the old reviews and comparo tests from the early to mid 90s, you will see Supra was a 2+ 2 GT car. It was not an all-out performance car. For its time, it was loaded with luxury, The chassis/suspension was tuned to be more on the more cushy side (hence body roll) as many of the components were shared with the Lexus SC300. Looking at reviews, comparos and the MotorWeek slalom test where they play it in slow motion. You can see significant understeer and roll in transitions. Its main competitors were 300 ZX, 3000 GT/Stealth, RX7 etc. The C4 ZR1, 993 911 Turbo S, NSX, R32 GTR, NSX, F355 were considered the all-out track cars for their times.

ill be taking out my drivers front seat soon for a new replacement . I'm quite curious how much they weigh. a set of light weight recaros could be a nice light weight mod depending how heavy oem are.

I love the current v8 engine. like others said, they need to reduce weight on our cars! can't wait to see 4.0 v8 TT engine tho.

Now THIS might be a good replacement for the V8s https://jalopnik.com/the-new-2018-le...ive-1790972200

Maybe lower the torque and up the hp to get better for higher redline and better high speed acceleration.

agreed. this was the whole reason i chose the rc-f. if they went turbo, i would probably move over to BMW side of cars. Having a fastest v8 japanese car out is pretty rare.
