Default DIY: Rear Spoiler Removal

I do not know if this has been done yet but wanted to share with you guys if you were wondering about how to remove the rear spoiler.

I started by taping the spoiler down. God forbid the spoiler drops after I unbolt everything.

Remove the interior clips. I used a trim tool. Red dots shows you where they are.

Once the clips are pulled out, gently pull the cover down and you will expose the following...

On each side there is a plastic bracket that houses the water drain hose.

Here is Left Hand Side, remove the 3 nuts with a 10mm socket.

Here is Right Hand Side, remove the 3 nuts with a 10mm socket.

Once the three nuts are removed, remove the plastic bracket and move it to the side.

The spoiler is held on by four T30 torx screws, 2 on each side. Picture below shows you the two torx on the right hand side. Once the torx are removed, there is nothing holding the spoiler and when the tape comes into play.

Reverse to reinstall everything....

Feel free to ask me any question. I will try to add more pictures and/or youtube video as my build progresses.

NICE write up with Pics, But WHY would you want to remove the rear spoiler? Matter of fact, I leave mine UP all the time (but then again i'm a spoiler/wing guy on pretty much ALL cars)

I figured it would benefit those who wanted to swap for another spoiler, wrap, or even plastic dip... I was removing mine and figured, why not.

helpful DIY.

taking off the entire lower panel with motor is easy as well. 14 (10mm) screws under the trunk and disconnect the motor harness and release both water drain clips/hose. Unit is pretty heavy but everything is very well made.

Also, if you are removing the top wing only, remember it can only be removed with the wing in the down position .

Just wanted to know if you swapped for a different wing, and if you did, did you use the same hex bolts? I just got a Seibon wing and it came with all these plastic pieces that my common sense can’t figuer out.

I am running the Varis longtail, but it should be all the same. I used the original torx, actually replaced with brand new originals since they have a bit of loctite on them.

Ah thank you! Being that I have the seibon style , I was afraid to deans it up all the way( because there was a gap and I did not want to ruin anything) Did you you use anything else like foam spacers or anything, or just slapped it on? Thanks again appreciate the info!

hey bro I had the same issue
you can lower the round ***** and it would close the gap and it won’t show it anymore since seibon didn’t come with the foam pieces

these are the little ****- spacers that located on the top of the trunk , they meet with the wing bolt holes, I just grabbed some pliers and turned them down, there is 2 on each side , also I used the oem bolts , the ones from seibon were too short, and I never used the foam strip thing they sent lol , didn’t find them useful lol

Appreciate the info! I will try and mess with the **** spacers this weekend, I also agree the bolts that come with the spoiler are too short.

Thanks for all the tips about the **** spacers! It came out to a perfect fit on the trunk after I lowered the spacers all the way down. Mahalo from Hawaii!
