Default Rumor - New RCF Testing

I have always speculated ( coming soon on my YT channel ) that the GT3 was a new RCF car and the LFR was different model completely electric as stated by Lexus and it looks like its slowly verring that way in terms of speculation. Brief new article on it. My theory is a hybrid V8 for the new RCF 550-600hp. The LFR was rumored on Supercar blondie to be 800hp+ all electric with a new gear system that will be introduced. Of course they may can the RC/LC name but as of now good speculative stuff to dwell on lol.

In my view the direction would be a hybrid V8 those downshifts sounds are very very interesting!

Check out the article below. The LFA replacement will not be ICE powered.

Listen To Lexus' New V8-Powered Sports Car Being Hammered Around A Track

SEP. 27, 2023 6:38 AM ETBY ROGER BIERMANN SUPERCARS / 3 COMMENTSThis isn't the successor to the LFA, but it's something just as exciting.

Lexus will be building a roadgoing version of the Toyota GR GT3 concept, widely believed to enter production as the next Lexus RC F. But instead of being a road car first, it's being developed as a race car that will then be made road-legal, following a new approach Toyota has adopted for sports car development.

The race car has now been spied testing at the Motegi circuit in Japan, giving us a listen to what is undoubtedly a big ol' gas-burning V8 engine under the hood. And it sounds glorious.

The video below labels the car as the Lexus LFR, which was the trademark uncovered by CarBuzz earlier this year. While we believe an LFR supercar is coming, we think that name will be applied to the production version of the Electrified Sport Concept as the LFA's successor instead.

Here's another view, a bit closer up, or a better lens.

This is more of a supercar than an RCF replacement. When I look at it, it screams 'AMG GTR' to me.

encouraging. personally got tired of waiting for them to do something so picked up a 911 turbo s. it will be hard to displace it but will look at this if it ever goes to production...love toyota motor corp however no longer expecting they'll deliver something at the next level. can't wait to be wrong.

To be a RCF replacement it needs to be ‘relatively affordable’. Other wise it will end up a dead duck like the LC 500.

Just to avoid confusion, what we're seeing is a GT3 race car being tested. It has been previously stated that the race car would be developed first with the road car being derived from that chassis. The current GT3 was developed from the RC platform after it was going to production and Lexus wanted to go racing.

In theory that should mean a much lighter RCF (or whatever they name the new car).

Yo yo!

I also think the design language is very kin to AMG GT/R. Engine also sounds like AMG tt-V8. Could this be that prototype tt-V8 LC-F engine?

In terms of market pricing, I’ll compare it with an AMG GT/R, since they are closest in class and style.

2024 AMG GT
MSRP: ~$150,000

2024 AMG GT R
MSRP: ~$157,000

2024 Lexus LC500
MSRP: ~$99,000

2024 Lexus RC F Track Edition
MSRP: ~$101,000

The LFR definitely looks like a $100k+ car and I wouldn’t expect anything less, especially with the EV version. For me to consider the LFR the RC F successor, aside from racing DNA, they’d have to sell it in the same price point of a base RC F at about $68,000. Although they say it’s the “LFA successor”, I think another V10 would be more worthy

Yes, the engine is exactly the same that was developed for the now defunct LCF. You can even find some old videos of the LCF racing car testing with the same exact engine sound. It was originally developed for the LCF, but the LCF was abandoned due to the TNGA platform being too heavy. They simply could not figure out how to reduce the weight. It was going to come in at 4600+ lbs so Akio Toyoda killed it when they could not hit his weight targets. Now they have created a brand new architecture that might be the best one yet for a Toyota/Lexus that is a proper front mid-engine platform (hence the very long hood) and it will be what LCF was going to be.

This picture is from circa 2019 when Lexus was full-fledged working on the LCF
