the new corolla comes standard with LED headlights in the US. its only a matter of time before all lexus models in the US will get LEDs as standard.

Lexus just got HID as standard. IMO they'll continue to offer LED as optional so they can make a profit

in Japan the GS 250 / 350 comes with the LED headlights. In any other part of the world it is hybrid (GS450h) only. I would not be too surprised if that is the case here as well.

this is not true on 3IS, so I am not sure why would it be on RC.

wasn't aware of that, thanks, and that's impressive.

the new corolla, while still kinda dull to look at, is leaps and bounds better than its predecessor.

Maybe IS headlights are cheaper to make, who knows. All I know is that you can't get LED headlights for RX/GS/LS without getting a hybrid. You could still buy them, but that is going to cost you $6,500+

it is 3rd generation LEDs, but i think here the question was of making hybrids in Lexus stand out by using LEDs and now since everyone has LEDs, so they are offering them on new models that are not hybrids as well.

So you will likely see it on future cars on all engine options, just like on 3IS.

My experience with Lexus's equipped with HID still have better visibility while the LEDs have better longevity. Either a good choice though

Do LEDs provide better visibility at 5000k as opposed to the industry standard of 4300k for HIDs? LED headlights, especially those from Acura seem to be running 5000k.

these last generation LEDs have better lighting than before, so they are good now.

So is this coming out as a 2015 model?

That would mean its available around Sep 2014? How long after new releases do dealers stop marking up or selling above msrp?
