Question Wrong battery installed. Blew Computer

2017 200t. Took it to Advanced Auto on Saturday to replace my battery. The guy installed a 24F instead of a 24 and it sent the computer into a tailspin. I had to have the car towed to the dealer for them to do a full diagnostic check. As of this morning, the dealership has discovered that a major fuse was blown and they can't complete the rest of the diagnostic check until that fuse is replaced. Advanced Auto is paying for the service at the dealership but I want to make sure that the car is truly fixed. What issues should I be concerned about or what questions should I be asking to make sure everything is in good working order?

I think you posted in the wrong forum.
The auto store most likely installed the battery cables backwards and blew a fusible link. those links are there to protect electronic parts from damage in case this happens.

This forum is for RCF. For RC models related inquiries, this thread might have to be moved here by a moderator.

Since I replaced my battery as well, the 24F did not cause it fail since in my RCF, I have the reserve polarity (batter is reversed where positive is where the negative was in the OEM) as well on the battery I got. I just made sure negative is connected to negative and positive to positive. Due to the confusion of 24F vs 24, I believe someone connected the wrong terminals, which is what must have caused failure.

Good thing is, it is being taken care of. The dealership will make sure the ECU is replaced properly. I don't think there is anything else you need to worry about.

They are the dealer, I'm not sure what concerns you would have that they already would know to check for. Glad Advance is paying; as they should. I say, after the car is fixed, drive it around and if anything isn't right, take it back.

Battery size 24 and 24F are the same - EXCEPT the terminals are reversed. So if Advanced Auto hooked up the cables the same way as the old battery, they defiantly blew a fusible link STUPID mistake

On all the Toyotas/Lexus vehicles I have owned, the neg terminal is always next to the side body of the engine body since the battery grounds to the body. I also always replace the OEM battery with a quality AGM like Odyssey.
