How did you learn to use Photoshop? Did you go to a class or learn from the net or just teach yourself? I fool around with it every once in a while but have only learned a few things. I have been blurring out the background but that is quite easy compared to some of the stuff I have seen you and others do on this site

Default quick tutorial...

FAQ:

Q) What programs do you use to create your images?

A) I mainly use Fireworks but I also use Photoshop for the effects that only Photoshop can offer. Most times you have to figure out what effect you want to do and then use the tools available in the app that can make it.

For example, let's say you have a picture of a tunnel that you want to "paint" your name along the wall...

First, pull up the file in Fireworks and type out your text. In Fireworks, you can type in your text and then press "Q" three times to adjust each corner of the text to what you want it to look like... basically morph it to fit the dimensions of the image.

Here you have your stock image.

Type your text onto the image.

Press Q, Q, Q and then you can morph your text...

Adjust the alpha (transparency) of the text to fit what you feel the paint should look like on the wall...

Photoshop is mainly used for the filters (effects) it can produce.

Q) How did you learn?

A) I first started in 2000 on my first job in NorCal working for a dot-com. Created powerpoint presentations and mockups using fireworks and been using it ever since. Keep playing around with it and see what you can make.

Here are some of the things you can do in fireworks:

I used photoshop and fireworks for these two...

Hey Rich, if you want to do the same effects in PS - select your text after you type it in and click the "Show Bounding Box" at the top and you'll be able to "grab" your text and move it around. In this mode, hold down the CTRL and ALT and Shift button at the same time and grab a corner - you'll be able to freely morph it like I did in fireworks.

Once you fix it up - just adjust the opacity, merge the text layer down to the background layer and you're set!

Gsoup,

May be good after you get these requests to add them to the FAQ and or Resource stickies (or recreate them) at top of the forum

ok...

We'll start with these:

1) switch up rims
2) lower vehicle
3) change color of vehicle

any more?

Hey Dave thats what I was thinking of doing. Put up some basic tutorials so people can take a crack at it themselves. I was going to either attach it or create a brand new sticky for them.
