Default Smog Check with a tune

Did anyone have issues passing California Smog Check with a RR-Racing tune on their IS? I'm mainly concerned due to the new ECU regulations in Comifornia,

RR-Racing says it shouldn't be an issue but I would like hear a first hand experience. I

My IS350 is stock except for the tune and I just re-flashed it back to stock to drive around for few weeks prior to the Smog Check.

Thanks

Ca emission checks now (since 2021) incorporate checking vehicle tuning data against a data base of factory tunes for all makes and models. If a cars tuning doesn’t match what’s supposed to be the factory tuning, the car will fail. If you want to pass, you’ll have to restore the factory tuning and reset the emissions monitors prior to testing in order to pass.

How would one reset the emission monitor? doesn't that work just by driving? thanks

I will make a correction ……
if the tuning has CARB certification, it should pass emissions. As far as the emissions readiness monitors, you are correct. Several drive cycles meeting certain parameters will need to be completed and there must not be any active or pending codes. Most cars can achieve “ready status” by driving normally for a few days.

Off Topic, now that I have driven with stock tune for few weeks I do notice the huge difference in throttle response and the mid range. The RR-Racing tune definitely makes a difference.

Well it passed Smog.

FYI, 2014 IS350 F-Sport RWD with 29k miles, flashed back to stock tune from a RR-Racing tune and drove for about 2 weeks, and everything else all stock.
