this is going to sound like a really stupid question but where exactly did you purchase your extra lower air box at? I’ve been looking for awhile now and I can’t seem to find one that fits 14-16 2.5 regular sedans anywhere. They all say 06-13 all models/14-16 convertible. I didn’t think the convertible would have a different air cleaner set up but I could be wrong. Best I can tell from pictures they all look alike but I could be wrong and the bolts holes may be different or something.

I looked through all the Club Lexus Vendor Marketplace and Classifieds, and finally found a complete air box that was posted several years ago that never sold. The owner was kind enough to part it out and just sell the bottom section. Finding the lower air box is definitely the hardest part of this project. Possibly a local salvage yard might be able to help, although they will probably want to price the complete air box. Just make sure the mounting tabs for the upper air box align with the lower box you are purchasing, as well as the grommet locations to bolt the box to the car. Also check for a used GS or RC air box, as some of those swap to the IS. In my case, I used a GS air box for our 2021 IS.

I was afraid of that. I’ll keep an eye out at the junk yards. Strange how I find the boxes for 06-13 all day but none for 14-16. I’m curious why the convertible 14-16 would use the older boxes though.

The convertible is based on the MY 06-13 body style IS.
