Man. I am REEEEEALLY missing the GS. I thought i wouldn't mind DDing an 87 supra, I was wrong...

Slapping my $100 6.0 together, crank was good, cylinders too. Plan is to use LS2 pistons/Rods and my truck 862 heads. This combo should put my compression ratio around 11.4:1. Combined with the newer better flowing truck manifold and my comp cam (218/224/.560") this should be a real torquey performer.

Test fitting the same drivetrain in my new GS is pretty simple, the engine and trans mounts are basically pre engineered now. EXCEPT this time im running an advance adapters bell housing for an AX15. Im also placing the engine another 5/16 lower to help fit the intake WITH the throttle body in place. I would love to not have to make another goofy throttle elbow....

Anyway, here's a couple pics. For those interested, the new LS3 camaro exhaust manifolds are INFINITELY CLOSER TO FITTING UP! Passenger side fits perfect. Driver side will need fabbing, but it starts out closer to the block giving you a lot more clearance for the steering shaft.

LS3 manifolds👌

Kinda irritating getting the dash out, i gotta say it's in there pretty good.

Trying to do a better job on the clutch pedal install this time, using a mk3 supra pedal

Well, it's been a hell of a winter, but temps are finally coming up enough for me to emerge from hibernation! Got RAIN lately, so hope that melts our snow.

Not much done on the GS, but i did decide last night to take a chance on some long tube headers. After reviewing picture after picture trying to find something close, i settled on headers for a 2010 camaro SS with the ls3, the same car that the ls3 manifolds come from.

So I'll give it a shot and see if headers are even close. It's only money, right?

Another bonus, i bought a running LQ4 6 liter for $500! That is getting my 4.8 heads and the 218/224 cam along with all the other low mileage parts. This will make for a very torquey daily, hell yes...

Recently i did get the clutch pedal figured out about 90%. The mk3 assembly needs to be chopped up a bit, and the pedal heated and bent some, but looks ok. Again using the landcruiser master.

As you may have figured, a lot of the other trick parts are pre fabricated on this project, it's just a matter of me getting off my *** putting the puzzle together. It kills me, not having my beasty... The exhaust cutouts are what i miss most.

Nice!

If I was keeping mine, I wanted to go the 6L route... But, priorities change.... I'll just have to continue living vicariously through you. hahaha

Keep it up!

More decent weather, i'm gonna keep plugging away on this.

Got the 6 liter together, just waiting on some ARP clutch/ flywheel hardware. I still plan to dial indicate the bell housing in, as the bell on my supra did need some minor alignment dowels to get it under .005" runout.

regarding the trans shifting quality, i'm 99 percent sure my Frankenstein bell housing had the input shaft crooked due to misalignment. 🤦*♂️ Live and learn

Headers show up tomorrow!!

Aaaand here's the shifter

Also got a little something I've always wanted, a lift plate. Sure, you can get by without one, but you can pick so much closer to the engine with one.

Thanks, it takes a while to find the tricks and shortcuts of fabrication. The GS is actually an easier car to swap, nice big engine bay, the speedometer is driven by wheel speed sensors, subframe isn't too inconvenient.

Good and bad news
1 header fits MINT
1 header does NOT

LOL, trial and error but it just may have paid off.

First up, pass side header which fits in place after removing the brace underneath.

Aaaand the pain in the *** driver side... sigh

this appears to be capable of fitting except the 2nd pipe from the front is running right into the steering shaft. I'll dig more into this another time, maybe the primary can be relocated, idk

Well, i'm all in now. I'm gonna do my best to get the driver side header to fit. There's no amount of bashing that would have made it fit, so i just cut out the section that hits the steering shaft. Plan is to go around the shaft, making it run in between the pipes.

I ordered some 2" stainless bends, we'll see how i tig it!
