You are just all over the place! I spy a 5th gen Celica and the 20R in the bed of the truck.... Is there a 3rd gen Celica or an old Taco sitting around the yard for that engine?!

EDIT: I'm a die-hard Celica guy myself... I've had 6, soon to be 7.

Ha, i suppose i don't mention my other projects much. I started as a celica nut, have now had many different ones. Most recently bought a 77 celica with a 350 in it. That is pretty much the end game for me, my mythical muscle car i guess.

Also have a parts Tacoma and 92 celica. I just hate to scrap anything... my 87 pickup i put a series 2 3800 V6 in, that was fun. Also a 87 landcruiser i put a Mitsubishi mechanical straight 6 in, that things a beast.

The 20R i'm giving to a guy in Arizona, it's on a pallet ready to ship.

Oh, and i almost forgot to mention my mk3 supra. That is also ar5 5 speed but turbo 5.3. Can't wait to get that thing dialed in

That's awesome. I wish I had the space for all of that. As it is, my fleet is at capacity:

15 4Runner (wife's)
04 LS430
98 GS400
90 ST185
88 ST165

I'm jealous to say the least!

Man you got 2 Alltracs? Those are getting super rare. I always wanted to make one RWD.

Heh... Yea. We picked up the 90 up in Ocnomowoc some 15 years ago, but it's a rusty mess... There's so much welding that needs to be done on the body, that I've been toying with the idea of LS/RWD.

The 88 is my wife's. That one has seen a nearly full resto, and is on the docket for a Caldina swap.

So it turns out a .25" extended pilot bearing is about 1/16" too long So i get to drill out yet another brand new pilot bearing. Got another stock one ordered, plan here is to pound it in, but leave it protruding maybe 1/8" or so. Hopefully i get time tomorrow.

Can you make a shim out of the .25" pilot race, so that you have a hard stop for the regular size pilot? I would hate to have to go back in there because the pilot shifts after it's all back together.

That's a good point. If i had a lathe i could easily make one. Idk if it's necessary, the pilot has to get wailed on pretty good to get it in there. Have to see how it does, my main concern is the pilot shaft being fully supported. There's not a lot of overlap they are both .75" long.

Got my pilot out with a bunch of paper and oil, hammering a bolt in. Installed another factory pilot, protruding maybe 3/16. Using play dough, i was able to determine there's about a 32nd to a 16th gap between bearing and shaft.

Next up, i went to fit my mini starter for real, and it appears i was sent an SBC starter Messaged the seller, i'm sure they'll make it right.

Bought some bolts to fit the LS460 diff, because the gs300 bolts have this huge stepped shank that prevents them from going into the bushings. I also pulled a rear knuckle off to get a better view of the ABS tone ring situation. I think it will line up well enough. I had no idea these cars have a long and short axle shaft. Looks like they should work in this car though.

Inching along!

Got my abs rings welded on as straight as i could get them. Looks like both cv shafts have enough wiggle room too. Swapped pinions, bolted up the diff, and popped both shafts in.

Curious about my clutch pedal, i hooked the pressure line up and tested my clutch. No leaks, that's always nice. But i looked at my pedal mount while pressing the lever, shes FLEXXXXXING bad. Today i came up with a brace that connects the mount to the top of the firewall. It connects via 1/4" bolt and a bunch of washers.

She's pretty solid now 👍

Oh, and i threw some paint on my mounts this time. Nothing fancy, just want to keep the rust off.

Well that's a clever solution!

Most that I've seen is bracing from the backside (in the engine bay) going from the firewall to the strut tower. I like the simplicity of this though.

Gray interior with a black dash isn't the most appealing... but goal #1 is running and driving. Fun stuff will have to wait.

Once again, JUST enough room for the ABS computer
